Lenham Valley Business Association brings easy, simple, friendly networking to your doorstep, helping to support the rural economy, not just retail but all business, and all sizes. Whether you are working from home or working in London but living locally or employing lots of people locally LVBA is made for you. Benefits of membership. The networking itself is flexible but designed to get people together for business. We usually have a speaker, someone with something to say that everyone should hear. We arrive at 5.45pm (please) for a 6pm start, the events finish around 8 pm, some people stay on later, some even try out the venues food before going home. Speaker: Speaker Kelly Duke (right) of Argo Life & Legacy “If it wasn’t for my grandmother I wouldn’t be doing my job”.  This is the reason Kelly Duke from Argo Life & Legacy and the Wrinkly Roadshow gets out of bed in the morning.  She has spent the last twenty years living in the world of elderly care and has advised numerous older people on their rights and entitlements.  “What I want is to ensure that our older communities remain independent for as long as they can, ensure they retain control and power over decisions that concern them and have all the information they need to prepare for their futures”.  Getting old is not something to be scared of.  Taking control is what is important.  Not only is Kelly an advocate for older people she is also a lawyer whose advice centres around planning for the future.  She has been described as “an empathetic adviser” who “takes the time needed to understand the problem”.  She has recently been described as a “star” but is not always sure she sparkles every day!

Tuesday 6 December combined with SMBA at Chilston Park. Sunil Rupasinha is a barrister who has practised at the London Criminal Bar for 25 years. He has prosecuted and defended in the full range of criminal courts, from the humble Magistrates’ Courts through to the august Court of Criminal Appeal itself, and, in the full range of criminal cases, from shoplifting to murder. He has now set up a niche, road traffic defence practice in which he specialises in saving driving licences. In, ‘Why I defend the ‘Guilty’’, Sunil will explain the ethical and moral dimensions of practice at the criminal bar by reference to a series of ‘loophole’ cases in which he has appeared.
